Hi Everyone,
I recently went to Shecky's LA: Girls Night Out in Hollywood this past week!
girlsnightout.sheckys.com
It was an "OK" kind of night with Midori as the liquor sponsor - the point is to get all the ladies buzzed on free drinks all night so that they go buckwild purchasing makeup, clothing and accessories in a swapmeet like setting.
The thing is: 75% of the ladies attending were clearly larger than the sample clothing sizes that are generally offered at these kinds of events (size 8 and above) and about half of the 75% were plus-size women.
I felt like the night was a bust in terms of shopping for clothes for me (i'm a size 16), and I know women were also disappointed with the lack of plus size clothes, jewelry, lingerie and shoes. And many of these ladies paid for entry and extra for a overly-hyped gift bag full of crap.
Have any of you attended Sheckys and what was your experience?
Would you be interested in a ladies night social shopping experience in your 'hood that focused on plus-size, fat-positive fashion? Why or why not?
I am interested in your ideas on this. I've never been to a plus-size curvy swap/shop night and am interested in the pros and cons of starting one in Los Angeles.
Thanks.
